These photos are from the town of Neustadt. It's one of our favorite little towns to head to for a shopping trip!

F o o d i e : N u t e l l a

Can we just take a moment to enjoy the glorious goodness that is Nutella? I've loved this stuff since I was little and its just one of those foods that I don't think I will ever get tired of. There are all kinds of new recipes floating around that are finding creative uses for Nutella, but I prefer it in its pure, unadulterated form on some toast or strawberries... or a spoon. Now I know, I know.... its not the healthiest, but we all have to have a foodie guilty pleasure right?

I recently acquired a little collection of washi tape and decided to test it out by jazzing up a few notebooks I found at a craft store (each one cost a dollar or less). I also printed out some of my Instagram photos to use as decorations. These were quite fun to make and along with being practical they make great little personalized gifts!

G e r m a n y P a r t 1 : L o c a l S c e n e r y

Time to share some vacation photos! I will be posting them in 9 parts over the next few weeks. This first group of photos ha snippets of the local scenery in the town where my Oma and Opa live - Bad Dürkheim  (This town is also home to the "World's largest wine barrel")

F o o d i e : F r i d g e P i c k l e s

I like the idea of canning, but I don't have the patience or supplies to actually do official canning... thanks to freezer jelly and this pickle recipe I can still satisfy my inner Betty Crocker.

In a bowl combine 1 cup water, 1 cup white vinegar, 2 teaspoons salt and 1 tablespoon sugar (next time I think I will add a bit more sugar for a slightly sweeter pickle). Stir to dissolve. Pour into a jar with sliced cucumbers, (I used 4 baby cucumbers) two whole cloves of garlic (you could smash them for a stronger flavor) a few sprigs of fresh dill, some mustard seeds (optional) and some whole peppercorns. Seal and leave in the refrigerator overnight. you can eat them the next day - although I found them to be at their best flavor after about 3 days. They will last in the fridge for up to a month. These are great on hamburgers or on their own as a savory snack!

C r a f t B r e a k : C l u t c h D e s i g n

Finally getting back to crafting and blogging! Feels good.

Here is one of my most recent creations.
All you need are a few simple supplies:
paint, tape, a vintage brooch, and a plain clutch (I found mine at Hobby Lobby for about $2.50)

C r a f t B r e a k : A n n i v e r s a r y G i f t

Made this for my parent's 25th  Wedding Anniversary!
I was inspired by a very similar project I came across on Pinterest.
I printed out maps of Germany and Indiana (Where my parents are from) and used a simple pattern to cut them out. Matted them in a frame and viola!
