I have recently become obsessed with incorporating copper into my decor and jewelry. I just love with warm tone of the metal and it's quite easy to work with. I've been collecting all kinds of inspiration here. This coffee table is one of my favorite DIYs to date. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out and it's such a great addition to my space. I was so excited during the making of the table that I failed to get good photos of the process, but never fear! Check out this post to get all of the details on how to make this lovely, customizable piece of furniture.

C r a f t B r e a k : P o m p o m M o b i l e
I think I have a pompom addiction. Good thing I've come across lots of neat ways to use them!
This mobile was inspired by ideas I've seen floating around the DIY blogs and Pinterest and I used colors that go well in my bedroom.
If you want to try making one yourself, you'll need various colors of yarn, metal rings (or any kind of sturdy ring with the diameter you want your mobile to be, even an embroidery hoop would work), and embroidery floss or bakers twine (optional - store-bought poms - I used some gold ones to add a bit of sparkle). Make LOTS of poms using your preferred technique and leave tails where you tied them off. Use those strings to tie your poms to the metal rings. Then use a needle to string up the tails on to the bakers twine and begin adding those around the metal ring. The tails on the top ring will be pulled up and knotted together to make the hanger for your mobile, while the tails on the bottom hoop will hang free. Use additional pieces of twine to tie together the two metal rings (this will take a bit of finagling to get the hoops to hang parallel). Once it's the way you like it, hang it up and enjoy your pompom masterpiece!

As you can tell by the pictures, I completed this project back in winter. I had been seeing lots of typography inspired decorations and decided I wanted to make a giant E to hang in my apartment. I used a little precut E from the craft store as my pattern and projected it onto the wall tracing it on to a thin sheet of plywood. With my dad's help we cut it out, sanded and then stained it with a cherry wood stain (not pictured) and now it's hanging in on the wall in my kitchen! Hope this offers some inspiration for your own typography DIY!

D e c o r U p d a t e : T e a S t a t i o n
I've been on a tea kick for a few months now and decided to make a little tea station in my kitchen in an area that wasn't truly being utilized. It's nice to have everything displayed in one place and it also allows my guests to easily access these items. Definitely a lovely and useful update to the cluttered 'catch-all' bowl that used to be sitting in this space!

Awhile ago, I put together a new ottoman for my living room. (Goodbye rickety old table!)
I wanted something that included storage, was comfy enough to put your feet up, and didn't blow the budget.
After some searching and failing to find what I wanted, I came across these $17 storage cubes at Target. I decided to get three of them and since they weren't quite the right height for my couch, my always handy dad helped me make some feet to add to the bottom. I painted them in a bright color that still matched my space but added a pop to the mostly gray ottoman. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out! Way more functional than your typical coffee table!

My parents have had these wooden crates sitting around our house for several years. I was looking for an update for this little space in my apartment and was inspired by some of the hand-constructed side tables I have been seeing around the web (like this one). After sanding, we, or actually my dad, spray-painted the crates with a burnt orange color that coordinates with the color theme I have in my living room. I'm so happy with how they turned out! Functional, yet simple and cute!
